This is an early, less perfected version of the Round Brilliant Cut facet arrangement and Proportions, with a simpler, squarish Girdle, a small Table, a higher Crown Angle, a deeper Pavilion, and a very large Culet. By today’s standards, this would be a very low quality cut, not even on the current Cut Grade scales. It was used to retain the maximum of the diamond, and for easy transport, and is almost always recut today for use in modern jewelry.
